monday morning feng shui: use pantone's 2014 color of the year

oh my gosh, pantone made my day choosing the 2014 color of the year...radiant orchid.  radiant, check, orchid, check!  it is a vibrant purple with pink undertones.  pantone will give a more accurate description of this beautiful color, and can perhaps capture the right words to describe it.

i will generously use this color in the wealth corner of my space and with any client needing to work on this area of their life.   paired with a dark, rich chocolate brown is my ideal vision.  here are some uses of this wonderful color.

having a swatch helps for matching complementary or contrasting colors.
i'd like to pair this ottoman with a rich, chocolate brown sofa and dark brown walls.

adding flowers in this shade are one of the simplest ways to incorporate this color into your space.  happy monday and happy ch'i, dana

monday morning feng shui: using color to ground yourself

good morning to all.  as we embark on the holidays with more do and see, grounding yourself becomes even more important.  to stay present, in tune with your inner self, and remaining in a state of inner bliss.  the colors in the brown, yellows and gold spectrum used in your space; can do this for you.  they are earthy, representing the colors of earth literally in your environment.  think shades of brown, caramel, and golden hues.  there is an inherent association with the earth and somehow using these shades can bring about and internal solidity and grounding.

having a wonderful sofa like this stunning mid-century one in the earth tones would definitely work!   for more practicality, adding a couple of throw pillows on your sofa, a vase in these tones or even a grouping of candles on your coffee table would suffice.  happy monday and happy ch'i, dana

temper the colder temps with some basic feng shui

good morning to all.  burrrrr...the temperature dropped to below 30 degrees fahrenheit in these parts!  as my body attempts to adjust, making some adjustments inside naturally follows.

with these drops in temps comes a change within your personal energy and inside space.  the feng shui needs adjustments!  the cold weather, snow and ice are all yin in energy and a little yang will balance things out.  and, fire is the perfect yang to get the job done.  inviting, warm, energetic, fire is all this and more.

no fireplace?  no problem, candles are just as effective.  place a group of your favorite candles on a table, or single votives and pillar candles throughout your home to add the warmth and energy of fire.

bringing in shades of red instantly adds the fire/yang element too.  adding red lamp shades for the colder months is a simple way to change up lamps and add touches of the fire element.

the comfiest, cozy-est throw you can find is required.  there is simply nothing like cuddling up in a warm throw when it's cold out.

red flowers or those awesome winter berries can be brought inside for instant fire energy, arranged in vases or simply placed around.  happy ch'i, dana
