week 4: one room challenge

here we are at week 4 of the 6-week design-a-space extravaganza!  first and foremost, my gratitude goes out to  linda, at calling it home, the creator extraordinaire of the one room challenge and the blog hostess.  if you haven't visited her website, you are missing out some wonderful diy projects, unique designs, great conversation and so much more.   secondly, to all the bloggers and designers giving love and support to me and everyone.  what a great group and what a pleasant experience.  many thanks to you all.

my weekly updates are linked below if you'd like to peruse what has consipired thus far.

modern jungle funk update

back to work...my work and my part in this process.  if you remember my design is called modern jungle funk and i started big (of course) choosing my teen daughter's room ( a big room too).  well, this week it became an even bigger project!  i have a desk (still in the box to put together), and haven't found a desk chair to my liking.  so, it may be that the italian ladder back chair will have some sort of cushion or slip cover...or i'll find something i have already to use, or the most wonderful desk chair will morph itself into my life stat.

if you've been following me on instagram, you've seen my ventures into resale shops, thrift stores and shops in search of cool things for this design.  these trips are so much fun, but i usually end up with a ton of stuff for other projects and things like shoes too.  here are some of my finds and what i've been up to in the teen dungeon (aka refinished basement).  oh yeah, styling it's been all about the styling this week.  and, trying to stay on budget...what a joke!

found this wooden vase at the habitat for humanity resale store...
a cute, vintage giraffe found a my fav resale shop.  seed pods found at a cool design shop.
not sure where these peacock feathers will end up...
i painted this old, framed corkboard from alexandra's old room design (it was bright pink)...
and lastly i finished putting the bookshelf together and did some very fast, preliminary styling...any tips on styling bookshelves you want to share?  those cords will be hidden for the final reveal.
and that just about raps up this week...at least it's all i can muster, up all night with my son and lots of trips to the bathroom (it breaks your heart when your kid is ill).

  7. You are so sweet, thanks for the kind words. Now, I am so jealous of your thrifty finds. It looks like you are done with the accessories. Hopefully, your son is better now. Mom's are the most needed when the kids don't feel well.
