photography | stone art

a day at the detroit institute of arts.  i've uploaded these via iPhone so the formatting is a tad off.  but i really enjoy photography + my "design eyes" never shut down; even when visiting a museum i'm trying to make visual creations.   happy sunday.  xx, dana

    1. an amazing talent these artists have. many of these were done in ancient times too, i imagine the tools were handmade as well. yep, mind boggling.

  2. I'm always impressed by people who can make such beauty from stone. There is something amazing about the process of whittling away to discover something underneath. Looks like a great place to spend a rainy summer afternoon!

    1. yes, having this talent and the patience to do this is amazing. i think about how the stone becomes infused with the artist's energy, the end result is not only the aesthetic beauty, but the chi or energy it gives to those who view it.

  6. Beautiful. When looking at the wonderful detail it is hard to believe how they were able to accomplish such works of art with the tools they had available at the time. Truly amazing!
