the ash floors were added over a year ago and are gorgeous. getting rid of the dated honey oak cabinet finish was priority, along with decluttering the space for entertaining and good feng shui.
my inspiration for a space always starts with a mood board. these are very simple boards for my use only whereas my design boards for clients are much more in depth and detailed.
and...the happily ever after...
yes, you're eyes are right...there are no chair cushions on these vintage danish dining chairs! they're getting a new cover of a robert allen fabric au moment. the cabinets were painted in a black satin paint, black subway tile with black grout was added, all walls were painted, a new granite counter top replaced the dated laminate, a new light fixture over the dining table modernized this space, under cabinet lighting was added, and a large giclee was hung.
this new pendant light (a tom dixon replica at half the cost) has a copper finish interior and it casts the most amazing glow in the room when lit.
there are still a few small details to work on, and knobs may be added to the cabinets in the near future. and there may be a phase 2 for this project so i will post more and hopefully better quality photos then. xx, dana
